The third of the famous Mortimer brothers came to play for Canterbury from Inverell in Northern Districts. Nicknamed "Louie" was a robust centre who later moved o the backrow. A member of Canterbury winning sides of 1980 & 1984-85. Louie toured with the 1986 Kangaroos and made his only test appearance against Papua New Guinea. In 1988 he along with fellow Bulldog Peter Kelly moved to Penrith where his experience was used by coach Ron Wiley and Phil Gould to mould a champion side. Mortimer captained country in 1989 ...
