Newtown forward, originally from Grafton, made his first grade debut as a 16-year-old in 1960. Wilson played for NSW in 1961 and 1963 before touring with the 1963-64 Kangaroos. Earlier that year, he had been invited to tour NZ with the visiting Sth African team to bolster their forward strength so, in effect, he represented two countries that year.
