Gangly fullback was graded with the Broncos in 1990 and made his State of Origin debut the following year. Tall (almost 2m) with a giant stride, Hauff's deceptive pace earned him selection for Australia in the First Test against NZ in Melbourne. Australia was beaten by the Kiwis, 24-8, and Hauff was one of several players sacked for the remainder of the series.
