Burly QLD forward played first grade for Brisbane Norths as a 17 year old and won Brisbane's Rothmnan's medal in 1976. Brohman played for QLD against Great Britain in 1977 but missed selection for interstate duty the following year. This provided the motivation to venture south to Sydney following an approach from Penrith.
